In conformity with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the core principles of the UNCEDAW, the declaration of United Nations on violence against women, and in light of the practical experience and on the basis of related education in the establishment of the basic rights of women in-country over the past few decades that is, ensuring gender equality in the family, society and State in Bangladesh, the women's movement in Bangladesh will now be strengthened with this proposal of the Mahila Parishad for a uniform family code. The world is being enlightened today with new philosophical outlooks. Poverty eradication and self-reliance may not be achieved only through supplementing the incomes of the beneficiaries, but must be accompanied by the development of consciousness through education and information. The exercise of appropriate control and necessary rights to those resources by the individual is also an important aspect of this process. In light of this rationale it must also be acknowledged that the empowerment of women and establishment of their fundamental rights may not only be achieved through constitutional guarantees, international conventions and declarations and their ratification by State Parties but it also depends on the implementation of these principles through creating appropriate legal instruments. Through their proper implementation, laws needed will secure the basic rights of women and ensure equality between the sexes. With these thoughts in mind, the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has formulated a 'Uniform Family Code' and undertaken the initiative for it. The main objective of this proposal is the full realization of the rights of women of all religions at all levels.
