The author has presented Melanie as an innocent, vulnerable girl, who is struggling to balance the hostile environment she calls home with her yearning for love and affection. But there is much more to Melanie than what meets the eye and this is the reason behind the harsh treatment meted out to her. Will they continue treating Melanie like the other zombified kids in the asylum? About M. R. Carey Mike Carey is a British writer of comic books, novels, and films. Carey was born in Liverpool, England, in 1959. He studied English at St Peter's College, Oxford before becoming a teacher. He worked as a teacher for 15 years before moving on to writing comics. Carey got full time employment at 2000 AD comics, where he created the original series Th1rt3en and Carver Hale. He is also the present writer of X-Men: Legacy working with artist Scot Eaton and Ultimate Fantastic Four for Marvel Comics.
