Dr Muhammad Majibar Rahman LLB (Hons.), LLM (DU), LLM in Legislative Drafting (UWI), PhD in Legislative Drafting (AUOL, UK) was born at Krishnapur Tarakanda of Purbadhala Upazila under Netrakona district of Bangladesh on 28 August 1957. He joined the Bangladesh Judicial Service as an Assistant Judge in 1983. In January 1989, he began his legislative drafting career as an Assistant Secretary (Drafting) in the Ministry of Law and Justice. In June 1990, he was promoted to Joint-District Judge. He did LLM in Legislative Drafting in 1994 from the University of the West Indies, Barbados under a fellowship from the Commonwealth Secretariat, London. In November 1995, he was promoted to Additional District and Sessions Judge. In November 1998, he was selected by the CFTC, Commonwealth Secretariat London as an International Expert in Legislative Drafting for the position of Legislative Draftsman in Gibraltar. He started his assignment on 17 November 1998 and continued until 16 November 2004. In March 2003, he did a PhD in legislative Drafting. In 2004, he was appointed a Law Draftsman in the Civil Service of Gibraltar. In December 2010, he was promoted to Senior European Union Law Draftsman in the European Union and International Department of the Government of Gibraltar. He has also been working as a Professor of Legislative Drafting in the Athabasca University of Canada since December 2010 for teaching legislative drafting online for the Post-Baccalaurate Diploma in Legislative Drafting (PBDLD) course.
