Abdul Bayes is a former professor of the Department of Economics, Jahangirnagar University. He held many positions in the university: Vice-Chancellor,Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Dean of Social Sciences and of Business Studies Faculties, Syndicate and Senate member. After completing his Masters in Economics from Dhaka University, he obtained higher degrees from Australian National University and the University of New England. Besides publications in international journals, some of his published books are: Bangladesh at 40: Changes and Challenges; Rural Economy and Livelihoods Insights from Bangladesh; Bangladesh at 25: An Analytical discourse; Tin Bigha Jomi (Three bighas of land); Golpe Golpe Arthonity (Economics in tales); International Economics; Gorib Deshe Gorib Manush (Poor People in Poor Country); Arthonitir Raja, Arthonitir Proja (Kings of Economics, Subjects of Economics); Bish Geramer Golpo etc. Professor Bayes is now the Director of Research and Evaluation Division (RED) of BRAC.
