Mahabub Hossain (1945-2016) was the Executive Director, BRAC. He was also the President of the Asian Society of Agricultural Economists (ASAE) till 2017. Dr Hossain held the positions of Head of Social Sciences Division, IRRI, and Director General, BIDS. After completing his Masters in Economics from Dhaka University, Mahabub Hossain obtained Ph.D from Cambridge University. Besides the publications of many research articles in international journals, some of his seminal books are: Asian Rice Bowls: A Returning Crisis; Rice Research in Asia: Progress and Prospects; Impact of Rice Research in Asia; Strategy of Development in Bangladesh; Rural Economy and Livelihoods Insights from Bangladesh; Tin Bigha Jomi (Three bighas of land); Golpe Golpe Arthonity (Economics in tales); Gorib Deshe Gorib Manush (Poor People in Poor country); Bish Geramer Golpo etc.

Abdul Bayes is a former professor of the Department of Economics, Jahangirnagar University. He held many positions in the university: Vice-Chancellor,Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Dean of Social Sciences and of Business Studies Faculties, Syndicate and Senate member. After completing his Masters in Economics from Dhaka University, he obtained higher degrees from Australian National University and the University of New England. Besides publications in international journals, some of his published books are: Bangladesh at 40: Changes and Challenges; Rural Economy and Livelihoods Insights from Bangladesh; Bangladesh at 25: An Analytical discourse; Tin Bigha Jomi (Three bighas of land); Golpe Golpe Arthonity (Economics in tales); International Economics; Gorib Deshe Gorib Manush (Poor People in Poor Country); Arthonitir Raja, Arthonitir Proja (Kings of Economics, Subjects of Economics); Bish Geramer Golpo etc. Professor Bayes is now the Director of Research and Evaluation Division (RED) of BRAC.
